Ice started in the Nizhny Novgorod region on December 11 and has already caused power outages. The ministry announced that the high alert mode was launched in the municipal districts of Voznesensky, Bogorodsky, Gorodetsky, Sechenovsky, Sergachsky and Balakhna, as well as in the Vorotynsky urban district, Bor and Arzamas.
“As of 15.00, it was determined that there were power outages in 324 settlements in 22 municipalities,” the ministry said.
Meteorologists predict that in the near future cloudiness and precipitation will continue from snow to rain, which will lead to additional ice formation, rolling on roads and, in some places, dense puddles of wet snow.
