Since April 11, the Kursk region authorities have declared a yellow terror danger level in the region due to possible provocations from Ukraine. Governor Roman Starovoit announced this on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the yellow danger level equates to a high level.

“I ask residents to be careful: watch out for bags on the left, report any suspected citizens or a group of people to the police on 102 or 112,” he said.

On Saturday, April 9, Starovoit reported that the Ukrainian side fired mortar shells at a border post near Elizavetovka, Glushkovsky district. No casualties or damage occurred.

“The firing point was suppressed by fire from our border guards and armed forces,” Starovoit said. According to him, the situation in the border area is under control.

Glushkovsky district is located in the west of the Kursk region. It borders with the Sumy region of Ukraine.

Events in the neighboring region – Belgorod

One of the high-profile consequences of the Ukrainian bombing of this area was the fire of an oil depot near Belgorod. This happened at the beginning of April. According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, the reason was the strike of two helicopters belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, they entered the territory of Russia at a low altitude.

This was confirmed by the residents of the city. In a comment to RIA Novosti, Nadezhda said that a helicopter flew first.

“Then it exploded. It caught fire, the smoke went away. I was very calm, everything was in the package, my grandson came and left. He came home in the morning. The windows were smashed. The management said they would change it,” he said.

According to the woman, like many of her neighbors, since the end of February, when the military special operation in Ukraine began, she has collected her belongings and documents in a separate package so that she can quickly leave in an emergency.

The house of another eyewitness – Alexei – overlooks the tank farm.

“Helicopters fly right in front of us, we live on the fourth floor. I run to the other side of the apartment, I see the tanks burning, the oil tank bombed. I collected my kids and wife and evacuated quickly. We went to relatives, ”she recalled in a conversation with the agency.

After taking his relatives to a safe place, the man returned home and waited for the fire to be extinguished. Only at night did he bring his wife and children home.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 194 people and 59 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, and a fire train was also involved in the incident. According to the TASS source, the fire spread to 1.2 thousand square meters. m Firing has been given an increased degree of complexity.

According to a TASS source, authorities evacuated about 1,200 people living in areas adjacent to the oil depot. “1,184 people were evacuated, including 217 children. Of these, 1,141 remained with their relatives, the rest are placed in TAPs on the basis of the Belgorod-Arena sports complex, writes the agency, citing one source.

A few days after the extinguishment, the authorities began to restore the tank farm.

Another incident in the Belgorod region – an explosion in an ammunition depot – occurred on March 29.

As the investigation revealed, the cause of the emergency was the missile attack of the Tochka-U complex from Ukraine.

According to the Investigative Committee, “at least three missiles equipped with cluster munitions, the use of which are prohibited by international conventions, were fired from the territory of the Kharkiv region in the direction of the Russian region.”

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Use of prohibited means and methods of warfare”).

Eight people were injured as a result of Ukraine’s actions. “According to experts, each of them caused serious harm to health. In addition, 21 pieces of equipment were damaged. TASS, in a statement to the press service of the ministry, reported that the warehouse located at the temporary location of the military unit was destroyed as a result of the fire and subsequent explosions.
