Former US intelligence officer Ritter: West has been preparing Ukraine for conflict since the beginning of Minsk agreements

Retired USMC intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Western countries used the Minsk agreements to buy time for Ukraine and prepare the country for military action. He wrote an article for consortium news.

Ritter believes that the Ukrainian authorities accepted “Minsk” under pressure from Western allies, while well aware that the terms of the agreements could not be respected. The expert pointed out that then the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko acknowledged the inconsistency of the agreement.

The American officer emphasized that the West seeks to stop or delay the military conflict in Ukraine, help the country’s economic empowerment and create a strong army.
