Employees of the Alicante-based emergency and firefighting company Babcock MSC Spain, they threaten mobilizations in the absence of an agreement to update wages. Asetma, STLA and CC OO unions note in a joint statement that the situation at Babcock has worsened, as in 2019 the board of directors attempted to impose a 13-30% SCT on salary. it is becoming more and more complex and seems doomed to mobilizations to update wages and benefits.
As they explained, there are currently a few unresolved issues and there doesn’t seem to be enough understanding with the board to address them in the coming months. On the one hand, the unions are assuring that they have not been proactive in negotiating the new deal for years, despite the company that terminated the agreement in 2018. They add that they even received a complaint forcing them to prepare and follow a meeting schedule at SIMA. To date, the positions are so distant that there is no deal date.
The centers emphasize that this refusal and delay in negotiating the new agreement is aggravated by the current inflation situation and loss of social rights. There is no solution to the CPI, working hours, or remote working practice problem. Thus, from the beginning of the agreement (2015) until today, about 13% loss of purchasing power and as the trend continues, it could end the year in about an hour.
the total loss is 20%.

The works council explained that, given the poor state of the deal negotiation, it demanded that the salary update be negotiated urgently, the company refused and closed this negotiation path completely.
However, the current situation of workers and the works council is so extreme that many of their problems in interpreting the contract result in complaints and lawsuits, “Unfortunately – they emphasize – this situation is becoming increasingly unsustainable and mobilizations seem inevitable”.
