In Novoshakhtinsk in the Rostov region, a man in a camouflage suit and ski mask opened fire on a group of police officers and injured one of them, the press service of the main office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the agency, the attack occurred around noon on 6 December. Local residents told 161.RU that they heard gunfire in the Novaya Sokolovka district, a district of Novoshakhtinsk, 10 km from the territory of the LPR.
“A man in a camouflage uniform opened fire on officials of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Novoshakhtinsk and then fled the scene. One of the cops got a gunshot wound,” the Home Office told Interfax.
According to Telegram channels 112, Baza and SHOT, a man, seeing three PPS employees, opened fire with a Kalashnikov machine gun. Baza writes that the police wore civilian clothes. They swept the area looking for Oksana Panchenko, 43, who had recently disappeared.
As a result of the gunfire, the 27-year-old non-commissioned officer was injured in the pelvis and was taken to the hospital.
“Experts describe the police situation as moderate,” the regional governor Vasily Golubev told Telegram. He added that a team of vascular surgeons from the Rostov Regional Clinical Hospital was sent to assist the victim.
Telegram channel Mash described the shooter as a deserter fleeing Ukraine, and also reported two injured police officers.
“According to preliminary data, the police were fired with machine guns. The shooter was a deserter before, they are looking for him,” he said.
After the conflict, the man managed to escape – they are looking for him in the city and the surrounding area.

Novoshakhtinsk police officers were ordered to wear body armor and be armed with machine guns, Baza reported. The siren plan was announced in the city – kindergartens and schools were closed there, roads were closed, and residents of the city were advised to be careful and not leave their homes.

One of the exits from Novoshakhtinsk is blocked.
“Yes. In the Novaya Sokolovka district,” the city’s law enforcement confirmed to TASS on Tuesday. Police and National Guard forces retreat to the scene.

There was a huge traffic jam on the road that was closed.
“There is some kind of confusion in front of the bridge. There’s something really spooky there. There they are already climbing from the opposite lane, usually on the drum. “But something is stopping the oncoming lane,” an eyewitness who filmed a lengthy traffic jam told the Baza Telegram channel.
The Novoshakhtinsk administration said that the movement of public transport to the villages of Novaya Sokolovka and Sokolovo-Kundryuchensky has also been suspended.
Novoshakhtinsk is located north of Rostov-on-Don. The portal 161.ru states that this is the Rostov region and the city closest to the LPR border, until the autumn of 2022 there is a checkpoint there.
