Valencia Community companies Progress in digitalization processes above the Spanish average. More connectivity, more presence on the internet and social media, better equipment, incorporation of new technologies into company management and production or more remote work characterize the digital profile of companies. That’s what the report says Digital Society in Spain 2022Fundación Telefónica collects the most relevant social indicators for 2021 to measure progress towards digitalisation.
Regarding connectivity, one of the pillars of digitalisation, the report reveals that 87% of micro-enterprises in the Community have internet access. a significant growth of 7.2 points last year, four points above the national average. 82.1% of these companies have flat rate internet connection. It is important to have the appropriate equipment for good use of the connection. In this sense, 90.1% of micro-enterprises in the autonomous community have computers, after an increase of 7.7%, again 4.7 points above the Spanish average.
In addition to the link, Internet presence for promotional purposes is also a determinant in the digitalization process.. In this sense, 30.3% of micro enterprises with internet access have a website and 37.4% use social media. Both data are above the national average. Finally, the report also states that the percentage of micro-enterprises purchasing a cloud service (cloud computing) in 2021 increased by 0.7 percentage points to 8.2%.
As with smaller companies, Ten or more employees of the group also progressed in the digitalization process in 2021. Regarding the connectivity of such firms, 99.4% have Internet access, almost unchanged compared to 2020, but above the national average of 99%. 99.1% of linked companies have a fixed link. Among these companies, the rate of those connecting via cable and fiber optic networks increased by 1.6 points to 67.4%.
Regarding the online presence of the largest companies in the autonomous community, 77.5% of those with an internet connection have a website. On the other hand, 67.5% of Valencia businesses (with internet access) use social media, after an increase of 2.3 percentage points last year. The Valencian Community is 0.9 points above the Spanish average in this indicator. The most used type of social media by companies is social networks with 89.7%.
Another important factor in business digitization is the inclusion of the latest technologies. In this area, the Community is also making good progress in 2021. The biggest increase was in the percentage of companies using IoT devices.After an increase of 11.6 points, 28.9% of companies have technology. This rate is 1.2 points higher than the national average of 27.7%. Most of these companies, 80.3% (80.3%) use IoT devices to secure their facilities.
Cloud computing services purchasing penetration also increasednotably, 2.6 percentage points reach 30.6% of Valencian companies with Internet access. Most of the companies with cloud computing, 80.2% purchased email services, while the purchase of finance or accounting software applications was the service that grew the most with 14.8 points last year, reaching 41.8%.
Finally, the report refers to the remote work figures in the autonomous community from a business perspective, given that this method of working has gained particular importance over the past year as a preventative measure against covid. In the Community of Valencia, in particular, 50.4% of companies allowed to work remotely.
