The robot saved the life of a 61-year-old man by removing a 6cm cancerous tumor from his throat. reported The Royal Hospital is in Gloucestershire.

The robotic procedure was a minimally invasive form of surgery that used smaller incisions than traditional surgery. Such operations reduce the number of complications, scarring and postoperative pain.

Surgeons used the Versius robot. The robot consists of three arm modules that mimic the surgeon’s hand and wrist movements with high accuracy. The surgeon controls the robot from the control panel by directing his hand. Using Versius allows you to reduce processing time.

The robot was installed last year and the Royal Gloucestershire Hospital became the first hospital in the country to use the robot.
