Saving “at least a few lives”
On the Telegram channel of the Khabarovsk “Council of Fathers”, a video appeared featuring a man who introduced himself as Vladislav Kushnirenko, a history teacher at school No.
“We heard from the manager of the store – socialbites.ca) that they (books about LGBT – socialbites.ca) only sell to people over 18 years old. They don’t sell to minors… But at my school I saw these books in sixth grade, eighth grade and they are clearly under eighteen. That’s why they sell it to children,” the man said.
According to one school history teacher, “children’s views” are “influenced by destructive forces” that “move” and “fund” children from the West, “steering” them “in the LGBT direction”.
Kushnirenko and another participant in the action, Deputy Chairman of the Khabarovsk Duma, Yuri Yagodin, were angry that the bookstore did not withdraw from sale booksellers who knew the contents of the books. Members of the “Council of Fathers” decided to buy the entire circulation of LGBT-related books, at their own expense, to destroy it.
The parliamentarian believes that his actions “saved at least a few lives”.
Not long after, Telegram news channels distributed another video. In the footage, Kushnirenko, wearing the same hat and jacket as in the first video, announces that he is “happy to contribute to the liberation of youth.”
The teacher declares that he has decided to do his part in the fight against the wrong values of the West, and then tears the books on the recycling belt.
“I am happy to do this. This is tears. They are all disgusting, miserable, and this should not happen in Russia. It just shouldn’t happen. If the West has decided to go crazy, it is the West’s right. We are not the West, we are a separate civilization, a great civilization with a thousand years of history. We have our own values based on Orthodoxy, we are the third Rome, we do not need it, ”says Kushnirenko about his actions.
Then, under a modern domestic musical composition, the audience is shown how torn books fall from the conveyor into a kind of thick slurry.
In another video released by the Mash Telegram channel, Yagodin and co-chairman of the Khabarovsk Council of Fathers Andrey Nikonov tear up books.
“Here it is, homocyte literature. Here it is, this filthy garbage,” says Nikonov.
The first act of many
Another participant in the action, the co-chairman of the Khabarovsk “Council of Fathers” Andrey Nikonov, told socialbites.ca that the act of destroying books was only the first.
“While the ancestral assemblies of other regions did not contact us, offer us advice or interaction suggestions, no one contacted us. “Our goal was to encourage our local entrepreneurs before the president signed this law so that people can get this garbage sold off the shelves and no longer spread,” he said.
Nikonov admitted that he did not read the books that he decided to destroy.
“We don’t read it. But it was enough for us to have them tell us what it was about,” he stressed.
According to him, “experts” and “some experts” are working with activists who “said that the two-volume “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” was an overt propaganda of gay love.
Nikonov advised to read the classics instead of books on the topic of gay love – “Reread everything we read in Soviet times”, learn the poems of Pushkin and Lermontov.
“Let them read the whole thing, but not this nonsense. As activists, we adults with children and grandchildren are against entering the store and this publication standing on the shelf that says “youth”.
He also disliked the fact that the bookstore where such publications are sold is “just 10 meters from the gym where hundreds of young children study.”
On November 30, the Federation Council approved a package of laws banning gender reassignment and pedophilia, as well as LGBT propaganda in Russia. Violators will be fined up to 10 million rubles.
In particular, the prohibition of LGBT propaganda, gender reassignment and pedophilia applies to movies, books, advertisements, media broadcasts and computer games.
