NHIndustries and Leonardo have completed the delivery of 60 UH-90A TTH multi-purpose helicopters to the Italian army, assembled at a factory in the suburb of Tessera, where Venice International Airport is located. It has been reported Shepard Media.

The UH-90A is based on the NH90, created in 1995 by the Franco-German consortium Eurocopter. Later, as a result of the merger, the company became part of the Airbus Group, a partner of the Leonardo holding.

The Venice plant serves as an assembly point for the NH90 for various customers, including Qatar, and is also involved in the modernization of existing machinery.

According to the publication, the UH-90A fleet is used by the Italian military for personnel transport, logistics, cargo transport, medical transport and the transfer of light tactical vehicles.

The NH90 can carry 20 soldiers or 2.5 tons of cargo. It is equipped with two engines with a capacity of 2 thousand hp. It can move at an altitude of 2.5 km at a speed of 291 km/h for about 5 hours.

It can be armed with air-to-air and air-to-ground guided missiles, unguided rockets, torpedoes and bombs.

Previously reportedNorway terminated the contract with Italy signed in 2001 for the supply of NH90 multipurpose helicopters worth more than $550 million.

A total of 14 machines were ordered, expected to arrive in 2005, but the first helicopter from the batch arrived in Norway only in 2011 and took off only in 2017.
