Research: Often times, ex-cons train to become Java developers. Skillbox Holding Ltd has summarized the interim results of the #lifeafter social program for the resocialization of prisoners.

Therefore, the most popular among those who serve their sentences in places of deprivation of liberty is the IT aspect (65%). At the same time, 42% of applicants chose development courses, mostly in Java – 29%, 7% of users chose Python, 6% preferred web development. The rest showed interest in analytics (11%), testing (5%), project management (5%) and cybersecurity (2%).
Design took the second place, with 16% registered (graphic design, motion design, photoshop). Marketing professions turned out to be slightly less popular, they were chosen by 14% (SMM specialist, copywriter).
Among the 49 trainees, the youngest participant is 19 years old and the oldest is 53 years old. Almost half are in their 20s and 30s. 43 percent are currently officially released, 22 percent are serving suspended sentences, 18 percent have been convicted in detention centers and 6 percent are restrained. Every second, article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, production, processing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or the like), several – 158 (theft), 159 (fraud) and 162 (robbery). The vast majority (82%) had work experience prior to the court order, and many (67%) are currently employed or part-time. 31% were unemployed and never found a job after their conclusion, and 16%, on the contrary, went to work for the first time.
