OneTwoTrip: Russians start vacationing abroad more often

Travel planning service OneTwoTrip said where Russians fly most often this fall and which cities they book accommodation in. It turns out that the most popular destinations haven’t changed much over the year – Moscow, St. Petersburg and the southern cities (Sochi and Adler) still rank first for air orders and hotels.

Tourists flew abroad more frequently this autumn: 12% of aircraft orders were placed abroad, compared to 9% in 2021. An international ticket could be purchased for an average of 25,700 rubles one way, and 5,300 rubles to travel around Russia.

Most often, domestic flights are from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi – these cities are traditionally in the top three lines of the ratings of the most popular air destinations among travelers. The capital’s popularity has not changed from last fall, but this year St. Petersburg and Sochi became 10% and 20% more frequent, respectively.

Customers of the service also bought plane tickets to Makhachkala (demand increased by 20%), Mineralnye Vody (+40%), Yekaterinburg (+40%), Ufa (+10%), Kazan (+25%), Kaliningrad (no change). . ) ) and Tyumen (+30%).

Osh (air ticket demand increased by 5%), Dushanbe (double doubled, previously ranked 10th), Baku (unchanged), Minsk were also among the foreign cities to which Russians fly most frequently from September to November. (+50%), Khujand (more than doubled, previously 11th place), Antalya (-35%) and Dubai (triple from 14th).

Hotels

Last fall, Russians were twice as likely to stay in hotels abroad: in 2021 the share of foreign bookings was 16%, and this year 32%. It was possible to stay in a hotel for a day for an average of 5,900 rubles, which is slightly less than last year (6,000 rubles).

Most of the bookings were for hotels in Moscow, but demand for accommodation in the capital fell by 20% during the year. Then, on the contrary, a little more popular St. Petersburg is coming. Third place was taken by Adler, the resort where they stay 35% more often last fall than in 2021.

Popular destinations also include Kazan and Esto-Sadok (demand for housing in cities remained unchanged throughout the year), Sochi (+50% of reservations), Minsk (a threefold increase in demand a year ago). The capital of Belarus was in 27th place), Dubai (double increase, the city rose from 22nd place), Yerevan (threefold increase, previously 29th place) and Yekaterinburg (-40%).
