Mikhail Murashko, head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, signed an order that from March 1, 2023, psychiatrists will have to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent their patients from committing crimes. document published on Legal information internet portal.

According to the decree, changes are being made to the procedure for the dispensary observation of persons suffering from “a chronic and prolonged mental disorder with severe, persistent or often exacerbated painful manifestations.” The document states that in order to “prevent” such individuals from engaging in socially dangerous acts, doctors must “cooperate with the police in prison inspections to prevent unlawful acts by individuals.”

Also, under the new procedure, the psychiatrist will determine the need for a psychosocial rehabilitation appointment.

When changing the place of residence, the patient or his legal representative will be obliged to inform the doctor of the place of relocation.

Former Parliament of Samara Region introduced Presents to the State Duma a draft law on the identification of children suffering from mental disorders in schools. The bill proposes involving police in working with people who need psychiatric care.
