The light went out against the backdrop of missile attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in Transnistria, and systemic disruptions were also noticed in Moldova, TSV Pridnestrovie TV reported.
“There is a major systemic failure in the Republic. There is no light anywhere. Everything went out. In the message of TSV Telegram referring to Dniestrenergo, the same problems exist in Moldova and throughout Ukraine.
In the republic, there was no light in residences, businesses and utilities. Traffic lights and street lighting were not working. Internet outages were also observed, in some parts of the republic there is no water.
The situation began to improve, with electricity turned on and mobile internet available in Tiraspol and Bendery at 16:30 local time. At the same time, Dnestrenergo reported that “in an hour and a half to two hours, if nothing bad happens, power will appear in Pridnestrovie.”
They noted in the PMR that power outages occurred due to the shutdown of Moldavskaya GRES. Afterwards, the station restarted.
Valentina Trubchanina, Managing Director of MGRES, noted that the interruption in electricity supply is linked to the combined energy system of Ukraine, Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
“What happened? The line from Romania to Moldova and to us was cut off. All of Ukraine went out. We have a single power system. As a result of the sharp drop in frequency in the electrical grid, automatic unloading of the power system has occurred. Now there is some tension. Several After an hour, everything will be fine,” he said.
“Russia has left Moldova in the dark”
The situation in Moldova is similar. As Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu reported on Telegram, major power outages have occurred in the country.
According to the politician, parts of the country were left without electricity due to the bombing of Ukrainian infrastructure facilities. “The Moldelectrica company is working to restore the electrical connection,” he said.
According to Spinu, a similar situation developed in the republic on 15 November. Then the light went out as one of the power lines automatically shut down against the backdrop of a rocket attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Moldovan President Maisya Sandu commented on the systemic power outages. According to him, the light in the republic disappeared through Russia’s fault. He added that we cannot trust this regime.
“Russia has left Moldova in the dark. But the power supply can be restored. Let’s solve the technical problems, let’s get back to the light. All government agencies are working on this. We cannot trust a regime that leaves us in the dark and cold, deliberately killing other people with the desire to leave them poor and humble,” he wrote on Facebook (the owner of Meta is considered extremist and banned in Russia).
Premier Energy Distribution, a Moldovan distribution company, also reported an emergency power outage in the country. “Today, November 23, at 14:23 local time, there was an emergency shutdown of the Moldovan electricity system. Transport and distribution operators are working to restore the power supply. We ask consumers for their understanding as the cause is beyond the control of the distribution system operator,”- says in the message
Electricity supply in Moldova is also gradually being restored. Regarding the incident, Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova.
“Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have once again left Moldova in the dark. Major power outages occurred across the country, including in Chisinau and the Foreign Ministry building. Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nicolae Popescu I instructed on Twitter to call the Russian ambassador for a statement.
