The Pope sent a letter to the Ukrainian people
Nine months after the outbreak of war, the Pope sent a letter to the Ukrainian people regretting “every little person who lost their life” and urging the authorities to take action. “forward-looking decisions for peace”.
“How many children died, were injured, orphaned, torn from their mother!(…) But how can one not feel pity for them and the deportees, big and small? “The pain of Ukrainian mothers is indescribable,” Francis said in the letter published by the Vatican press office.
“The task of leading the country in tragic times and making decisions with a vision of the future for peace is overwhelming,” he adds.I cry with you for every little person who lost their life because of this war. Like Kira in Odessa, like Lisa in Vinnitsa and hundreds of other children: in each of them all humanity was defeated.”
