Billionaire Elon Musk, owner of the Twitter platform, said in a statement this Friday, Will Support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Republicanif he decides to submit his candidacy in the Republican Party primaries, thereby competing with former President Donald Trump.
When asked by a user of his social network whether he would support the governor of Florida if he decides to run in the 2024 presidential election, the South African businessman replied “Yes”.
Musk’s confession came hours after he reported it. He was a “huge supporter” of the Presidency of Barack Obama, of which Joe Biden was Vice President and that he “reluctantly” voted for the current president instead of Trump in the 2020 election.
“My choice for the 2024 Presidency is logical and centrist. I expected this to be the case under the Biden Administration, but so far I’ve been disappointed,” the Twitter owner said.
Meanwhile, Musk defended former President Trump’s decision to reinstate his platform account–whose profile has been suspended since January 2021 after instigating the attack on the Capitol until last week– arguing that this was a “serious mistake”.
“I don’t mind if Trump doesn’t tweet. The point is that Twitter fixed a serious bug by banning your account, although it does not violate the law or terms of service. Deleting the profile of an incumbent president has undermined public trust in Twitter in half the United States.”
