Visitors to the ‘First Dates’ restaurant can be marked by nervous breakdowns. Here’s how Carmen, 85-year-old Barcelona cook and tailor, was delighted to be greeted by Lidia Torrent at the door of the program building: “I’m so happy to be here because I see you every day How beautiful you are!“.
“I go anywhere alone. I had a partner because I was widowed at a very young age. Like 50 years old. I was very much in love with my husband, but I did not have a good time with him. I was a merchant seaman and we had a lot of problems. I have four kids and I’ve made one each time I come,” Carmen explained to the camera in total.
Right after arriving at the restaurant, Lidia Torrent had to experience a somewhat awkward moment after Carmen thought she was still dating her ex-partner Matías Roure for several years:And here’s your partner.”
“It was, not anymore. But nothing happens”Lidia explained very naturally to Carmen, who admitted she was a little nervous about ‘First Dates’. “We are now very good friends and colleagues” Matías then replied to the lady.
Shortly after this extraordinary moment, Carmen announced that she hadn’t stopped joking when she learned she was going to meet Pedro, an 84-year-old retired road worker and also a Barcelona resident: “I’m very happy despite my age. I like to have fun with someone, not alone. Actually, I went on a solo cruise three months ago. I can’t find who to go with because I’m going alone“.
“This is a beauty. What a woman!“, reassured Pedro after he made his first contact with Carmen and handed him a box of chocolates.The truth is I never eat chocolate because my love handles get bigger and I don’t like them. Not for me or for anyone else,” the Barcelona lady assured.
