The 34 short films screened in the three sections of the festival (the Official Section, the European Section and the Ibero-American Section and the Social Section), the “fantasy, realism, folklore and social dialogue, and active listening to today’s current events” by some young directors, inform the organization of the festival.
In addition to Yolanda Centeno’s “It is impossible to say goodbye to you”, which was selected as the best short fiction film, the list of winners was completed with Nacho Fernández’s best documentary short film “figurante”; “Monkey” by Xosé Manuel Zapata and Lorenzo Degl’Innocent, best Animated Short; “Amianto” by Javier Marco for Best Direction and “Chaval” by Jaime Olias for Best Production in 2022.
Best performance went to Jone Laspiur with Estibaliz Urresola’s “Polvo somos”; Europe’s best short film: “The Right Words” by Adrian Moyse; best Iberian-American short film: “MTI” by Mauricio Corco; PNR award for best short film: special mention for «Suelta» by Javier Pereira and «Marinera de Luces» by Pablo Quijano.
The best Valencia short film was Borja Soler’s “Mindanao”; the public’s best short film was Javier Pereira’s “Suelta”; best screenplay, “Emotional Geographical Map” by Julu Martinez and Candela Megido, and best short: “Largo Viaje” by Kabiria Films’ Manuel Manrique and Héctor Herce.
The 2022 edition of the Benidorm Film Festival received 450 short films, 230 screenplays and 25 projects to be presented “on the short screen”, positioning the Alicante event as one of the reference short film festivals on the national map and a meeting place for all. The actors of the short film value chain participated from the organization.
The Jury for the Official Section and the European Section consisted of Cristina Perales, Luis Ivars and Pilar Pérez Solano, and the screenplay jury consisted of Sergio Barrejón, Eva Sáiz and Paco Cavero.
