Summary:
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Emanuele Crialese (Terraferma, Nueva Mundo, Respiro), L’Immensità is a 1970s drama starring Oscar winner Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers, Official Competition). He is accompanied by Vincenzo Amato (On the same wave), Filippo Pucillo (Terraferma) and Aurora Quattrocchi (Ahead all day). Rome, the 70s: a world between neighborhoods under construction and television shows still in black and white, social achievements and outdated family models. Clara and Felice have just moved into a new flat. Their marriage is over: they no longer love each other, but they cannot part. The only thing holding them together is her children, whom Clara turns her desire for freedom into. The eldest, Adriana, has just turned 12 and gets up close with Clara’s moods and the growing tension between her parents. Rejecting her name and identity, Adriana wants to convince everyone she’s a man, and her stubbornness brings the already fragile family balance to a breaking point. As children wait for a signal to guide them, whether it’s a voice from above or a song on the TV, everything changes around them and inside them.
