Debuted as an actress in ‘One Year, One Night’, Isaki Lacuesta’s film about the Bataclan tragedy. Artist from Madrid (32 years old), already much more than a rapper in music, She takes a small part in the Catalan director’s most ambitious project.opens this friday. Pucho (Anton Álvarez, friendly nickname of C. Tangana) is part of a cast that includes actors such as Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, Nóemi Merlant, Natalia de Molina and Enric Auquer, among others.
Lacuesta (47 years old), always attentive to those who were brought up in music, had a long-standing interest in C. Tangana. “When I saw his video clips and his interventions, I wanted to film him. I thought he had acting skills,” the director explains to this newspaper. But one day, he says, his potential became clear: the day he presented the song “Un Veneno” at “Operación Triunfo”. “They expected him to make a trap to be modern, and he appeared to sing a bolero and it seemed like an overly sensitive, very fair performance,” Lacuesta says.
This performance of Pucho was famous for the musical (people still did not see him in a non-rapper costume) and theatrical (he left the stage without saying goodbye).. “On the Internet, people said he looked drugged and instead looked like a definitive performance to me,” the filmmaker says.
After a while, ‘One year, one night’ in full swing, Lacuesta lacked an actor to play the hero’s brother. “I left this wish hanging [el de trabajar con C. Tangana]. And he released a new video clip and I even saw that he looks like Nahuel physically… So we called him, thinking he would say no, and he agreed,” recalls Lacuesta. And it happened: the singer appeared in some scenes of the movie where the character of Nahuel Pérez is a town in the mountains of Madrid. The director is C. Tangana, who has always expressed his fondness for cinema, and the desire to “absorb the whole world”. The filmmaker recalls that something similar happened when he shot with Albert Pla.. “He even asked about the lenses we were shooting with,” he says of the Catalan singer-songwriter.
Cross Roads
C. Tangana, the last of the musicians to splash on the screen (for now). For example, a few weeks ago, rapper Ayax returned to the cinema with Paco León’s ‘Rainbow’ after debuting with ‘Hasta el cielo’ (2020). But the road from the screen to the music is also starting to get crowded. Jaime Lorente, Aron Piper, Dora Postigo… are popular actors with their own lives in music. Lacuesta, in Pucho’s case, is clear that her screen career didn’t end there: “I’m convinced she’ll be in more movies.”. He adds that the paths between cinema and music often cross: “I like the idea of turning musicians into actors and actors into musicians. I think that musicians in general are very used to discipline, they are not afraid of the audience. They know how to react to what is in front of them.
