Scientists of the University of Songyungwan (South Korea) found that the risk of cancer in children with congenital heart defects and mothers has developed significantly. Research Results published In the magazine circulation.
In the United States, congenital heart defects (VP) are one of the most common flaws. They may vary from less serious abnormalities to more dangerous conditions, such as the absence of certain heart chambers or valves.
Scientists analyzed the data of more than 3.5 million efforts provided by the Knowledge Base of Korean National Health Insurance Service. Information about all infants born between 2005-2019 was taken into consideration. Researchers have followed the cases of cancer diagnosis between newborn and their mothers for 10 years.
The results have shown that the incidence of cancer in children with congenital heart defects has shown that 66% higher than peers without such pathologies. The most common types of oncological diseases are leukemia (21%) and Nokhodkinsky lymphoma (11%). In addition, it was 17% higher among mothers who gave birth to children with heart defects for 10 years.
