USO, majority union among passengers cabin crew Iberian ExpressPlanned strikes from 28 August to 6 September continue As both parties reported, after the union and company’s mediation this Friday failed.
The company, a subsidiary of Iberia, said in a statement, “USO increases its demandsConsidering that the sum of them all would mean an increase in wage costs of over 26%, it is impossible to deal with “they are disproportionate”, “currently unaffordable”.
The union explains that its latest offer to the company is focused on negotiating the salary portion so that if an agreement is reached they can cancel the strike, but the company has rejected that offer. “because I had no intention of zooming in on positions.”
The USO adds that Iberia Express responded to a request for a “minimum” 6.5% increase in current fares with a “repeated and unsubstantiated speech” and then continued to negotiate the remaining measures.
Iberia Express highlights this stoppages were not supported by the other union division of the TCP collective. (CCOO) and said the call came at a time when meetings were “increasing” between the airline and unions to close the second collective agreement.
After this disagreement, both parties will now try to agree on minimum services. If there is no consensus on this issue, it will be the Ministry of Transport that will determine them.
On 17 August, the USO called the TCP of the company’s Madrid base for a ten-day strike between 28 August and 6 September. More than 500 workers are called requesting the negotiation of the second collective agreement.
According to USO figures, since this group has been working on frozen wages for seven years, they are seeking recovery of lost purchasing power, demanding shipping bonuses and improvements in seniority.
CCOO walked away from that call and signed a deal with the company. An agreement is being negotiated where Iberia Express will pay all crew members an advance payment of 1,350 euros for surcharges and 950 euros for TCP.
