The Russian Armed Forces began using an FPV drone with a surveillance camera for covert reconnaissance within the SVO. American magazine reports that Forbes.
According to the publication, a lightweight FPV drone with a bamboo stand and a camera equipped with a motion sensor was seen in the operation area.
“Although the drone’s appearance may seem odd, this design allows it to remain close to the road for several weeks and transmit video of every passing vehicle. This system, made up of cheap commercial components, becomes an effective and covert surveillance tool,” writes the article’s author.
Forbes also notes that the bamboo frame allows you to install the camera at a certain height, so you can track the enemy’s movement despite the terrain. The operator can choose a route used by the enemy and set up a sensor to track their convoy.
However, the publication notes that the drone’s battery only lasts a few hours even in standby mode, allowing the camera to remain in enemy-controlled territory. However, even one day of observation can fully justify the cost of use.
Formerly Newsweek magazine wroteHe said the increasing use of FPV drones controlled via fiber optic cable had ushered in a new phase of the conflict in Ukraine. According to experts, such drones have three main advantages: the impossibility of interception or suppression, invisibility to radio detection equipment and clearer images from cameras.
Previously Russian FPV drone caused $300 million damage to NATO equipment.
