A 12-year-old boy in Dzerzhinsk believed he had won a contest and gave his parents’ money to scammers to collect the prize. about this reports Regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to information received from the department, an unidentified person wrote a letter to the student and said that he had allegedly won the competition. The attacker convinced the child that in order to receive the reward he had to take a photo of his parents’ bank card with all the specified information on it. The boy believed the fraudster and followed his instructions.

Thereupon, 20 thousand rubles were deducted from the student’s mother’s account. A criminal case was filed regarding the incident under the fraud article.

Before that, a 23-year-old girl in Karelia received an “apartment” from a colleague at the messenger and gave it money to scammers. The attackers sent him a video message and asked him to borrow money until the evening.
