Moreno Ocampo, former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court: “Netanyahu has no immunity. Countries should use arrest warrants to apply pressure”

Luis Moreno Ocampo (Buenos Aires, 1952) recuerda cómo, en sus inicios, la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI) estuvo a punto de naufragar. “Me llamaban y me decían: ‘Luis, no puedo juntarme contigo, eres radiactivo'”, dice el exfiscal jefe fundador de este tribunal, creado en los años 90 para juzgar los crímenes más graves en ausencia de actuación genuina de los Estados. “Pero eso ya pasó”, afirma en entrevista con EL PERIÓDICO, al argumentar que, pese al sombrío panorama global, ni la CPI ni el derecho internacional desaparecerán. La prueba, reflexiona, son los actuales juegos de poder sobre la orden de arresto por crímenes de guerra contra el primer ministro israelí, Binyamín Netanyahu.
