A quarter of Russians spontaneously shop during sales, 35% follow seasonal discounts, and 47% of respondents believe that discounts are real. This was shown by a study conducted by the social network Odnoklassniki and the fintech company YuMoney, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
While 60% of the survey participants stated that they did not track sales, 35% stated that they actively tracked sales. The other 5% do this from time to time. Of those who watch sales, 45% plan to shop on Black Friday, 40% are willing to buy a product if they like it, and 10% do not plan to buy anything.
The majority of buyers (61%) look for discounts on marketplaces. 23% of those surveyed go to shopping malls, and 16% shop via social networks. According to analysts at the OK social network, since the beginning of November 2024, the average number of posts in the feed and the Hobbies service talking about sales, discounts, promotions and special offers on the site has increased by 33% compared to November 2024. previous month.
Regarding the question of how much Russians are willing to spend on purchases during sales, 53% of respondents admitted that they can spare 5 to 10 thousand rubles. A quarter of respondents are ready to spend from 10 to 20 thousand rubles, another 10% are ready to spend from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, and the same number of respondents are ready to spend more than 100 thousand rubles.
A quarter of Russians admit that their worst sales purchases were underwear and products in the household appliances and electronics category. 15% of the respondents are not satisfied with buying clothes and shoes from famous brands, which they buy only because of a big discount.
Respondents were able to choose several answer options when answering the question about what Russians buy most during sales. The main purchases were clothing, shoes and accessories (65%), as well as electronics and appliances (52%). 13% of respondents buy jewelry and pay for subscriptions to online services, and 8% buy tickets to theaters and concerts. 5% of respondents spend money on courses, training and master classes.
According to the research, 25 percent of Russians do not prepare for possible discounts, and 22 percent fill their baskets in advance in online stores or marketplaces. The other 19% compare prices on different sites. 11% of respondents monitor price dynamics in markets, 10% study prices in stores, 7% make shopping lists, and 6% buy only what they plan to, regardless of the size of the discount.
