According to RTVI dated November 7, 2024, RUDN University awarded a degree of candidacy to surgeon Alexei Vaganov, whom colleagues suspected of falsifying the results of the operation. His thesis stated that the surgeon performed gastrostomy at the 7th city hospital in the city of Ivanovo.
However, from the responses of the prosecutor’s office of the Ivanovo region, Roszdravnadzor for the Ivanovo region, the regional compulsory medical insurance fund, the administration of the 7th hospital, including the comment of the chief physician of the hospital for RTVI, it follows that the indicated operations were never carried out there.
However, this did not lead to Vaganov being deprived of his diploma. The media requested comment on the situation at the university.
“It is not within the authority of the thesis council to detect or refute the fact that the submitted documents are fake. This issue is within the jurisdiction of law enforcement authorities.
