Russian scientists identified the most dangerous infections transmitted from pets to humans 21:15

Scientists from the Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) named the most dangerous diseases transmitted from animals to humans. socialbites.ca was informed about this by the press service of the scientific institution.

According to experts, a person can pick up a wide variety of pathogens from a wide range of disease groups from the fur of a cat or dog. Various parasitic worms, helminths lead to prevalence. Their presence in the body weakens the immune system and can cause various allergies.

Infections caused by helminths include toxocariasis and echinococcosis. The first is provoked by nematode worms and roundworms. Nematode larvae can settle in the eyes, meninges, lungs and liver. Adult roundworms can crowd the intestines, poisoning the host with waste products and depriving it of nutrients.

Echinococcosis is caused by tapeworms that can form a shell around themselves with a diameter of up to 10 centimeters. Such a bubble can rupture internal organs, causing irreparable harm to the patient’s health.

Protozoan parasites that cause piroplasmosis and toxoplasmosis are no less dangerous. Piroplasmosis causes the destruction of blood cells, the effect of which resembles cancer.

Toxoplasmosis is especially dangerous for pregnant women, because the fetus of a sick mother can develop pathologies incompatible with life while still in the womb.

PNRPU noted that even harmless scratches from cat claws can introduce bacterial pasteurellosis pathogens into the human body. In the skin form of the disease, ulcers appear at the injury site.

If the germ enters the lungs, the person develops chronic cough and pneumonia. The most dangerous form of pasteurellosis is septic, in which blood poisoning occurs. In this case, damage to the liver, heart and joints is possible. However, the disease is difficult to diagnose because its symptoms resemble hepatitis.

Experts from Perm Polytechnic University reminded that pets can also carry the deadly rabies virus, which does not yet have an effective treatment.

Previous scientists educated Artificial intelligence searches for worms in stool samples.
