Captured Ukrainian soldier Vladimir Nikolenko told RIA Novostithat he and his colleagues did not receive supplies from the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the week before the surrender.
According to Nikolenko, he was even surprised that he was not tied up after being captured by the Russian army.
“They fed me, gave me cigarettes, gave me water. This is on condition that we have not received dry rations for probably more than a week,” the soldier said.
Nikolenko in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was a rifleman-medic from the 17th separate tank brigade. He surrendered to the Russian army when he found himself surrounded in the Kursk region.
