In the first nine months of 2024, 10.9 million enforcement proceedings worth 1.44 trillion rubles were initiated in Russia regarding the collection of debts related to loans and loans from citizens. This was reported by RBC According to data from the Federal Enforcement Office (FSSP).
Compared with the same period last year, the number of such cases increased by 11.6%, and the total amount of unfulfilled obligations increased by more than a third, that is, by 34.2%. The volume of debt collected in the period from January to September has already exceeded the figure for the whole of last year (1.41 trillion rubles).
The bailiff is responsible for the execution of court decisions and the processing of notary enforcement orders on claims of creditors against debtors. It is important to remember that the same person may have more than one enforcement action, so the number of cases in the FSSP report does not correspond to the number of citizens whose loan payments are overdue.
According to the service, in the period January-September, bailiffs were carrying out 24.4 million cases against citizens for a total amount of 3.37 trillion rubles. These figures also take into account a significant number of cases remaining from previous reporting periods. During the reporting period, bailiffs completed 9.7 million cases on collecting funds from citizens in favor of creditors in the amount of 881.5 billion rubles. Compared to last year, the number of closed cases increased by 24.1% and the debts to them increased by 3.6%.
Vasily Solodkov, director of the HSE Banking Institute in September recommended Credit card holders monitor the grace period of their credit cards (grace period for interest payments) in order to avoid debt.
