Dozens of tourists in the Turkish city of Belek have contracted a strange illness that local doctors are calling an undiagnosed infection. Holidaymakers are likely to have contracted the coxsackie virus. Among them was a child whose fever rose to 39°C on the second day of his illness and developed severe rashes on his limbs and mouth.
All symptoms pointed to the coxsackie virus, as in other patients, but in this case, doctors diagnosed the child with “acute respiratory infection.”
After noticing the rash, his parents immediately took him to the hospital. It turned out that other patients also came with similar symptoms of the disease. Vomiting has also been observed in adults.
According to the boy’s parents, three to four days after starting the antibiotics, the disease subsided.
