Lico B protein can reduce the damage caused by radiation to healthy tissue. This was demonstrated by a study on mice and cells published in the journal Future Integrative Medicine (FIM).
Although radiation therapy helps kill cancer cells, the side effects of radiation damage healthy tissue and increase the risk of death.
In a new study, scientists tested the Lico B protein to protect cells from radiation. They were treated with a dose of 10 Gy two hours before X-ray irradiation. Additionally, the drug with Lico B was administered intraperitoneally to the mice one day before irradiation with X-rays or gamma rays.
In both experiments, antioxidant levels in cells and tissues were significantly increased, DNA damage was reduced, and inflammation was alleviated. The survival time of mice also increased.
With further research, Lico B could become a radioprotective agent for nuclear disasters, radiation therapy and spaceflight.
Previous scientists I learnedIt is stated that physical activity can reduce the risk of death from dementia by 30%.
