In the event of a mass exodus of labor immigrants, there will be a serious need for workers in the regions most dependent on immigrants. Andrey Kladov, expert on migration agenda and personnel recruitment and manager of the Migrant Service platform, told socialbites.ca that based on the platform’s analysis, experts identify sectors that are most in need of personnel.
Thus, the ranking of the sectors where line personnel are most needed is as follows: courier services, manufacturing sector, logistics and construction.
Employees will be needed particularly urgently due to increasing staff shortages in courier services, manufacturing, logistics and construction over the five years, so it is important that companies provide competitive salaries for these positions.
“Experts have serious concerns about this process. If migration continues, labor shortage will become an even more serious problem. For Russians, working conditions in linear positions, for example in construction, are generally unacceptable. According to the National Association of Infrastructure Companies, this could lead to difficulties in all sectors that depend on immigrants, such as construction, distribution services, HoReCa, industry, transportation and services,” Kladov said.
According to Immigration Service analysts, to attract Russians to scarce positions, companies need to provide highly competitive salaries.
“For couriers – average – 110 thousand, maximum – 155 thousand rubles. For production workers – on average – 118 thousand, maximum – 147 thousand rubles. For drivers – average – 100 thousand, maximum – 136 thousand rubles. For builders, the average is 90 thousand, the maximum is 130 thousand rubles, the expert said.
According to Immigration Services analysts, long-term staff shortages in the above-mentioned sectors could have a negative impact on the economy by 2030.
“We observe a negative dynamic in the growth of personnel shortages, to which migration processes are actively responding. However, in the long term, the Immigration Service considers the creation and development of a nationwide internal labor migration platform to be a more effective solution. “In particular, if, with state support, a system of employer guarantees is created in case of movement of an employee between regions, the shortage of personnel in the Leningrad region can easily be filled by unemployment in the Krasnodar Territory,” Kladov concluded.
