Medical Xpress: Exposure to Blue Light from Screens Is Linked to Aging

Scientists from the University of Oregon have discovered that the harmful effects of blue light from devices increase with age – scientists’ study published In the journal Medical Xpress.

The researchers exposed a fruit fly to harmful radiation because its cell model was similar to that of a human. First, the insects were irradiated when they were two days old and then in 20, 40, 60 day old subjects.

As a result, the scientists learned that harmful effects increase in older flies. The findings are also consistent with the findings of a previous study that found that prolonged exposure to blue light affects the lifespan of flies.

According to scientists, blue glow not only damages the retina layer of the eye, but also accelerates skin aging and disrupts sleep.
