A helicopter crashes in Georgia, at least nine dead

At least Nine people were killed in a helicopter that crashed this Friday morning. During a rescue operation in the Miskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia, the Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs reported.

“This Friday, during a paragliding flight near the Gudauri ski resort, two people fell into a rocky drop. A Border Police helicopter, interfering with the rescue operation, lost control and crashed, Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri told ‘Georgia Today’.

As detailed by the interior minister, inside the rescue helicopter were four crew members, two rescuers from the Ministry’s Emergency Management Service and two doctors from the Ministry of Health. After the accident, they would all die. While trying to save the two paragliders, the helicopter lost control and crashed. Meanwhile, one of the paragliders died and the other was injured. According to ‘Kviris Palitra’, Gomelauri reported that the sole survivor was transferred to a medical center.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that it plans to tighten the regulations on paragliding flights, announced their suspension For the time being, a mourning was declared on Saturday, July 30, due to the death of 9 people in Georgia.
