TASS: The decision on mass production of the Il-96-400M will be made after testing the aircraft

The decision on the feasibility of mass production of an upgraded version of the Il-96-400M four-engine long-range aircraft will be made after the certification tests of the machine. This has been reported TASS with reference to a source in the aviation industry.

The interlocutor of the agency noted that, as before, the first flight of the aircraft is planned before the end of 2022, and the first copy of the Il-96-400M will be used as a flight laboratory. This will be done to test technical solutions for wide-body long-haul aircraft.

“It is being tested on modernized systems, including a promising complex of domestic flight and navigation equipment. The engine is also in Russian – PS-90A. It is scheduled to take off by the end of the year. According to the results of the certification tests, mass production will be decided.
