Experts have concluded that a five-month-old baby was paralysed due to a ‘sudden jolt’

Las conclusiones de las peritas del Instituto de Medicina Legal de Las Palmas que examinaron a un bebé de cinco meses ingresado en abril de 2019 en el Hospital Insular con graves daños neuronales son contundentes: sufrió el síndrome del niño sacudido o zarandeado. Las médicas explicaron este miércoles en el juicio que se celebró en la Sección Segunda de la Audiencia Provincial que los traumatismos que presentaba el menor en distintas zonas del cuerpo son indicativos de que las lesiones se produjeron por un “zarandeo brusco”, en el que es necesario ejercer “cierta intensidad”. El menor quedó tetrapléjico, perdió el habla y cinco años después solo puede desplazarse en silla de ruedas.
