Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill called the act of Kosovo Albanians who burned Christian crosses during the festival as blasphemy. The corresponding message from the Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church to Patriarch Porfiry of Serbia was published on: website Department of External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The event, where the crosses were burned, took place in the ruins of the ancient city of Ulpiana, near Pristina.
“I learned with deep pain about the blasphemous act recently committed by Kosovo Albanians on the ancient ruins of Ulpiana,” the Patriarch wrote.
A composition of three crosses commemorating the events of sacred history that took place on Calvary was publicly burned at a local festival “as part of a cheap comedy show,” the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted.
Patriarch Kirill stressed that openly desecrating the image of the Holy Cross is nothing less than a challenge to all Christians and, moreover, an insult to the feelings of all believers (both Orthodox and Catholic).
Previously drunk students in the Stavropol region burnt “New Testament” on the grid.
