Moscow Tverskoy Court accepted the investigation’s request to arrest former First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government Ilya Bronstein in the case of bribery in the amount of 25 million rubles. This is reported by TASS with reference to the court’s press service.
“The court ruled to detain Bronstein until November 11 on charges under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving bribes on an especially large scale),” the press service said in a statement.
Bronstein has been in public service in the Moscow region since 2018 and has served as the region’s Minister of Education since 2021.
The same case involves the rector of the Moscow Region Educational Development Enterprise University, Andrei Lubsky, who has already been arrested, as well as the general director of one of the commercial entities. The charges were brought under part 4 of article 290, part 4 of article 291.1 and part 5 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The investigation alleges that Bronstein, while serving as first deputy chairman of the Moscow regional government in June 2024, received a bribe in the amount of 25 million rubles from the general director of the company through an intermediary (university rector) for assistance in signing and timely payment of certificates of completed work, as well as unhindered participation in the tender for the purchase of interactive panels for educational institutions for general patronage in his official activities.
