Doctor explained how to assess the risk of developing diabetes at home Doctor Misharova: You can assess the risk of developing diabetes yourself with the 09:30 test

You can assess the risks of developing diabetes yourself using a special calculator, Alina Misharova, endocrinologist at the Fomin Clinic, told socialbites.ca.

“One of these tests can be done on the website of the Rospotrebnadzor Center for Molecular Diagnostics CMD. It includes various questions about your lifestyle, whether there is a history of diabetes in your family, and blood sugar levels. But everyone needs to check their fasting venous blood sugar levels annually, even if the test shows a low risk of developing the disease,” Misharova said.

The norm of fasting venous blood sugar for a person over 18 years old (except for pregnancy) in Russia is up to 6.1 mmol/l.

“If the indicator exceeds 6.0, this is not always a sign of diabetes. These are the first signs of carbohydrate metabolism disorders, as the limit values of 6.1-6.9 mmol/l correspond to prediabetes. In case of a one-time increase in glucose levels, there is no need to panic, because one indicator is not enough to draw the correct conclusion,” the doctor said.

You can also have a blood test for glucose and glycated hemoglobin, which will show your average sugar level over the last 3 months on an empty stomach, to assess your risk of developing diabetes.

It was there before named The age at which appendicitis peaks.
