Venezuelan opposition warns judicial ruling on Maduro’s election victory will be ‘invalid’

Anticipándose al pronunciamiento del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) que, se espera, ratificará la victoria electoral de Nicolás Maduro, María Corina Machado y el candidato de la Plataforma de Unidad Democrática (PUD), Edmundo González Urrutia, advirtieron que cualquier decisión que desconozca la victoria opositora en las urnas el 28 de julio carecerá por completo de validez. Si se consuma lo que casi se da por hecho, el TSJ a través de su sala electoral estaría “violando los derechos inalienables de los electores e incurriría en responsabilidad penal, civil y administrativa”. Machado y González Urrutia invocaron en su pronunciamiento la misma constitución redactada y promulgada bajo el Gobierno de Hugo Chávez, que en su artículo 138 sostiene que “toda autoridad usurpada es ineficaz y sus actos son nulos“.
