Russian troops began using a new FPV drone in the Kursk region, resistant to all types of electronic warfare weapons. Military observer Viktor Litovkin spoke about this Aif.ru.
According to Litovkin, the drone is controlled via cable, without repeaters or radio communications.
“A reel with a special fiber optic cable (…) is unwound over a distance of up to 20 km. The system provides a stable connection and good image quality at the operator terminal, increasing controllability,” the expert explained.
Electronic warfare (EW) means are powerless against it. The UAV was developed in Veliky Novgorod and received the name “Novgorod Prince Vandal”.
According to Litovkin, such weapons cannot be called a “step into the future”, since the first models of anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) also worked on wires.
“In the case of UAVs, this is quite a parallel step: it is a good type of weapon that was born during the SVO,” the expert concluded.
August 13th reportedThe “Novgorod Prince Vandal” was developed by the Novgorod center “Ushkuynik”. The drone is actively used by Russian troops in the Kursk region.
Previously, the company “Messenger” experienced personal satellite communications kit.
