Tonight, TVE 1 premieres (22:50) the TV film ‘El rey Peret’, about the Catalan rumba legend. It is a musical biography that tells the story of the artist’s most unknown and most intimate personal and artistic career: composer, singer and part of a gypsy family saga that would influence his music, his achievements and shape his life. Actors Jordi Coll and Pep Antón Muñoz bring the rumba master to life in the youth and maturity of his biography. The cast also includes Asia Ortega, Jordi Planas, Paco Moreno, Elena Gadel, Paul Berrondo, Pepa López and Toni Sevilla. The TV film’s premiere this year coincides with the 50th anniversary of Peret’s performance in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. The song ‘Sing and Be Happy’ finished ninth in the contest, which ABBA won with ‘Waterloo’.
