The Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation has allowed eight border election commissions to hold early voting in the upcoming elections. This was reported by TASSReferring to the words of the deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Nikolai Bulaev.
The opportunity to vote early will be provided to the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions, as well as the Voronezh and Rostov regions, Crimea, Sevastopol and the Krasnodar Territory.
Bulaev noted that the decision will allow election commissions in these regions to independently decide in which polling stations early voting will be held.
“This decision reflects current experience [у избирательной системы РФ]and the situations we have today in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” he said.
The CEC deputy chairman added that the issue of providing such an opportunity to election commissions began to be discussed three weeks ago.
Central Election Commission Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said the Central Election Commission wanted to abandon the practice of early voting, but noted that current conditions required security.
