The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case over mass poisonings in a children’s camp in the Kaliningrad region. This was reported in its report Telegram channel regional department of the division.
A criminal case was initiated for the crime under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers.” The poisoning occurred in the Ogonyok camp in the city of Svetlogorsk.
According to the investigation, 32 children aged between 10 and 16 who were on holiday at the camp between July 27 and August 3, 2024 suffered from acute intestinal infections. Five of them required hospitalisation.
Before that there were 26 children in Crimea poisoned in a children’s camp. The incident occurred in Kalamitsky Breeze in Evpatoria. The victims were diagnosed with norovirus infection.
Experts found that employees violated health regulations. Workers did not properly organize food and did not perform high-quality disinfection.
At the same time, when the first sick people appeared, they were not immediately isolated from the rest. Such actions led to the spread of the disease. No other details of the violations were reported.
