The route “Round Tolbachik” in the Klyuchevsky Natural Park in Kamchatka was closed due to the increased activity of the Bezymyanny volcano. The Telegram channel reports this “Kamchatka Volcanoes”.
Experts predict that a powerful eruption is expected within the next month, with ash that could spread to heights of 6 to 15 kilometers above sea level.
There is also a risk of mudflows up to 10 kilometers in a southeasterly direction, which poses a threat to nearby settlements (Klyuchi, Kozyrevsk and Ust-Kamchatsk), where volcanic ash may fall.
In this regard, the park administration strongly recommends that you refrain from traveling and hiking within a 25-kilometer radius from the Bezymianny volcano.
The route closure was made based on the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Expert Council on the forecast of volcanic activity.
According to satellite data, experts note a significant increase in the size and temperature of the thermal anomaly over the Bezymyanny volcano.
The Kamchatka Volcanoes network of nature parks and local governments urge residents and tourists to refrain from visiting dangerous areas until the situation stabilizes.
Monitoring of volcanic activity continues and updated information will be provided to the public promptly.
