A person with prostate adenoma will have the following portrait: a man over 50 years old, looks irritable, tired and sleepy. Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, head of the EMC urology clinic and urologist at the European Medical Center (EMC) Nikolai Grigoriev told socialbites.ca.
“The fact is that a common symptom of this disease is a frequent urge to urinate at night. They interfere with sleep. Statistically, every second man up to the age of 60 suffers from prostate adenoma. This disease is of great social importance: if a person is in a leadership position and constantly does not get enough sleep due to frequent urges to urinate at night, this will negatively affect his work and the atmosphere in the team,” the doctor said.
According to him, prostate adenoma or hyperplasia is a disease associated with the development of benign additional tissue inside the prostate gland. This tissue causes the organ to increase in size and presses on the urethra. As a result, unpleasant symptoms appear – difficulty and frequent urination, including at night.
“It has been proven that the first histological, that is, cellular, signs appear in men aged 30 to 50. Whether a person will get this disease or not is already clear. But at the same time, over the years, certain changes occur in the body of any man, but prostate adenoma occurs in some, and not in others,” Grigoriev said.
According to him, if a patient develops prostate adenoma, first of all, drug therapy is applied. Pills can be taken for decades, but if over time the effectiveness of the treatment decreases or side effects occur, then there is only one option – surgery.
Formerly a doctor named the first sign of prostate adenoma.
