Criminal case opened over bridge collapse in Buryatia 04:28

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case for negligence after part of a bridge that stopped traffic on the A-333 federal highway in Buryatia eroded and collapsed. This was reported by TASS.

“After the collapse of a section of the bridge on the 142nd kilometer of the A-333 Kultuk-Mondy highway in the Tunkinsky district of the Republic of Buryatia, a criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Art. 293 (negligence) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the message reads.

The ministry stated that the causes of the incident have now been determined, an investigation has been conducted and the necessary documents have been seized.

On July 21, the Ministry of Transport of Buryatia announced overlap Traffic due to erosion of approaches to the bridge on the border highway A-333 Kultuk – Mondy – Mongolia. Specialists are working on the site. Special equipment was left in Slyudyanka and Kharbyaty. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a total of 43 people and 36 pieces of equipment were involved in the incident.
