For 32% of Russians who plan to stay in a hotel during their holidays, it is important that there is no extraneous noise in the room. This is evidenced by the results of a joint survey between Rokfon (a business division of ROKWOOL) and Radisson Resort & Residences, Zavidovo. socialbites.ca got acquainted with the results of the study.
It turned out that for tourists the silence in the room is no less important than the level of service, which received 32% of the votes. Only the cost of accommodation (38%) and the location of the hotel (37%) are higher in the ranking.
At the same time, 64% of vacationers complain that they periodically have to deal with the problem of lack of silence in Russian hotels, including various guesthouses and resort hotels. 12% are constantly bothered by noise and only 24% experience no discomfort.
The main irritants include children’s screams and cries, as well as other noise from neighbors or the corridor. The vast majority of holidaymakers complain about this; 49% and 38% respectively. 23% say that the noise from early cleaning disturbs their sleep; 21% of respondents are fed up with noise in hotel lobbies and restaurants.
Most often, guests’ acoustic discomfort is manifested by a lack of quality sleep (33%) and the inability to relax for proper rest (32%); 22% of participants complain of constant stress and headaches.
At the same time, 27% of tourists say they would never return to a hotel where they experienced acoustic discomfort, even if it is well located and offers quality service at a reasonable price.
“For example, for acoustic insulation of public spaces (lobbies, common rooms, cafes and restaurants, etc.) you can use various ceiling and wall acoustic panels, which, as a rule, are harmoniously integrated into any architectural environment. It is produced with a coating that is resistant to pollution and allows wet cleaning,” commented Rokfon president Roman Kartashev.
