The World Health Organization (WHO) announced the world’s first case of human infection with the avian influenza A(H5N2) virus. This case was recorded in Mexico TASSrefers to the organization.
Country officials reported to WHO that “a person living in the state of Mexico has been infected with the avian influenza A(H5N2) virus.”
“This is the first laboratory-confirmed human case of influenza A(H5N2) virus in the world and the first H5 avian virus human infection recorded in Mexico,” the statement said.
According to WHO, the source of the virus is not yet known. At the same time, A(H5N2) viruses were detected in “poultry in Mexico.”
