An Indian man lost his freedom by cutting the belly of his wife, who was eight months pregnant. This was reported by News9Live.
The incident took place in the city of Badayun. The couple, who had been together for 22 years, had five daughters, but the man wanted a son. The absence of an heir often led to quarrels.
On the day of the incident, an argument broke out between the spouses due to the gender of the child. At one point, the head of the family attacked his wife with a sickle and cut her stomach open, although she resisted.
After the incident, the woman ran to the street and saw her brother working in the store there. While the man took his relative to the hospital, her husband fled the scene.
Doctors gave the woman all the necessary intervention, but the child could not be saved. A criminal case was opened against the victim’s wife.
In court, the Indian citizen argued that his wife had caused the injuries. However, the court sided with the woman and sentenced the man to life imprisonment.
